Personal bio - Kevin Crooks

I am a native of southeast Kansas. I was born in 1954 and I spent my youth working in my Dad's hardware store as a stocker and a clerk, both
jobs that brought me into contact with the public.  God was training me even then for a call to ministry!  I graduated from Wichita State
University with a B.S. degree in respiratory care and worked in hospitals for seventeen years, moving up into middle management.  In 1992 I left
the hospital in order to form a construction equipment rental company with my brother and another partner.  In 1999, a couple of years
after an unexpected divorce, I felt the call to ministry.  After talking it over with my partners, my pastor, my parents and anyone else
who would listen I left the business and started seminary in 2001 at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa.  I graduated from seminary in 2004.

It was in seminary that I would meet my beloved wife, Vicki, who now pastors First Christian Church in Ada, Oklahoma.  After two pastorates in
Kansas we moved to Ada to be closer to Vicki's family.  I have two sons and a daughter.  Through Vicki I am blessed with another son and daughter
and three grandchildren (two girls and a boy).  We live on an 8 acre property seven miles northwest of Ada with various dogs, cats and
chickens.  I spend my spare time working in my shop, gardening and perpetually mowing grass.   My personal call as a minister is in
transitional and transformational ministry.  I believe that during the interim time a church has a unique opportunity to reassess itself and put
everything in place for spiritual, missional and numerical growth.  I hope one day to enter a doctorate program and put my ideas and experience
to work to further the transformation of the church as it faces the challenges of the 21st century.
